WHY CHAKA RUNA
What Is Chaka Runa?
Chaka Runa is a community and shamanic healing center in Peru, offering Master Plant Dietas guided by Don Gino and his team.
Our purpose is to support the healing and awakening of humanity through the use and preservation of ancient shamanic knowledge, while caring for and protecting the Amazon rainforest.
The Meaning of Chaka Runa
Chaka Runa means “bridge person” in Quechua. It represents a bridge between our everyday world and the spiritual realm.
The name reflects our intention: to help people connect with the spiritual world through ancient shamanic knowledge and the wisdom of the Master Plants.
“We bridge you safely into the mother’s realm.”
- DON GINO
We Are Here Now
We are a community that believes in humanity’s capacity to reconnect with its spiritual roots.
We believe we can open our eyes, recover our human essence, return to our origins of light and walk a path of love and compassion. Through this, we can reconnect with our true selves and with Mother Earth.
We believe there is a higher purpose in life, and that this purpose lies in the ancient wisdom carried by the spirits of plants and animals. To us, there is no wiser source than Nature and the Universe.

Our Vision
Through our work, we hope to inspire greater awareness, compassion and care for the world we share.
We envision a world in which we come together across borders, cultures, races and beliefs through unity in diversity. One tribe that celebrates life in harmony with Nature, acknowledging our ancestors and respecting Pachamama and the Source.
A world that embraces the use of entheogenic medicines, so that anyone in need of them can access their benefits in a safe and sustainable way.
A planet that preserves the core of ancient shamanic wisdom throughout the continuing evolution of humanity, belief systems and technology.

Everything We Do, We Do From the Heart
Our work is structured around four pillars.

Healing & Awakening
We aim to provide a gentle, safe and deep shamanic experience that helps people heal, raise their consciousness and reconnect with themselves.
Through this work, we seek to bridge you to the spiritual world and align your body, heart, mind and spirit, helping you discover your true purpose, live a meaningful life and become part of an awakened community.

Preserve & Share the Knowledge
Ancient shamanic knowledge has traditionally been passed down within families and communities. When fewer people continue the path of their elders, this knowledge risks being lost.
Growing interest in sacred medicines also raises concerns about ceremonies offered without sufficient training, care or ethical responsibility. We believe that access to these medicines should go hand in hand with qualified guidance and respect for the traditions they come from.
This is why we strive to connect people with ancient shamanic knowledge and support its preservation.

Support Native Communities
During our Dietas, Indigenous craftspeople can sell their work directly to participants. Chaka Runa does not take a share of these sales.

Promote Sustainability
Growing demand for sacred plants makes sustainable harvesting and cultivation increasingly important. Without responsible practices, the future availability of these medicines is at risk.
We aim to promote the sustainable and responsible use of sacred medicines and the preservation of medicinal plants.
This care also extends to how we build. All the Quinilla wood used to construct our Tambos and Maloca comes from sustainable sources.

Our Ecovillage & Retreat Center
The Chaka Runa Retreat Center in the Peruvian Amazon is home to our Amazon Master Plant Dietas. It is part of a wider Ecovillage vision that brings together community, medicinal plant preservation and the sharing of ancestral knowledge.
Alongside the existing retreat center, future plans include a residential area, a shamanic school and research.

Chaka Runa Family
The Chaka Runa Family brings together more than 7,000 people around the world. What connects us is the shared experience of having sat with Don Gino.
We stay connected and support one another beyond the Dieta. When travelling, you can reach out to other members of the Chaka Runa Family. It is an opportunity to meet, build friendships and strengthen our sense of community.

“I am sorry to say, you are now part of the Chaka Runa Family.”
- DON GINO
